OK, so I've been asked to add context to the video by the mods.

Here is Fabio Wibmers latest video, featuring him riding a gravel bike down a mountain, too many skids and lots of silliness

Well, clearly that's pretty much how I ride my gravel bike. None of that pottering around our broken country roads and 'wondering where that track goes' bo**cks for me, thankyou very much!

Not dissimilar* to my Peak District riding to be honest.

*both involve bikes, OK?

He really slams the front wheel into some of those landings. Ideally on a rigid bike you want to plant both wheels down at the same time to preserve your wrists like BMXers do. I learned that pretty quickly.

Surely gravel is all about not conforming to stereotypes in a uniform of zzz top beards and flannel shirts, while screaming "DON'T LOOK AT ME" at crowds of people.

I think that just show Fabio Wibmer is incredible on a bike.

There is no way I'd ride a lot of that on anything.

Yoni barrel did a-line on a cross bike a few years back 😀

Edited to add- and dirt merchant!

Worth pointing out that it's not Fabio, but Gabriel, his little brother or cousin. Family dynasty I guess

Oaft, you could see the flex in the back wheel at one point. Good work though.

Good bike rider rides a bike fast shocker ?

To be fair all those trails he rode looked really smooth

Martyns linked vids above are a different league IMO

Yep, they are a lot smoother than the actual gravel roads I ride on with a fixed gear bike with 25c tyres.  I wouldn't be as fast as he is but then he wouldn't be as fast as he is if he tried that on a fixed gear either.

No. Good bike rider releases fun video*

To be fair all those trails he rode looked really smooth

The singletrack stuff at the start looked horrible, and a feeling I'm all too familiar with (at a much slower pace)

Martyns linked vids above are a different league IMO

and totally different sort of riding

*sick edit

@kerley - did you write the recent piece for Cycling Weekly? If not it's a hell of a coinkydink!

Writing is really not in my skillset so a big no to that.  What was the gist of the article?

I don't think Martyn's were advertising anything except how good Martyn was (yes, yes, no doubt they were sponsored).

Great vid though (Gabriel's) enjoyed it.
Next to the market - gravel specific full face helmets?

I'm not sure he's likely to be scouring the STW forums looking for riding tips 😃

I'm simply making an observation that landing like that on a rigid bike hurts like hell. If he were here, I wouldn't offer him advice, I would just ask him how his wrists are 🙂

Reminds me of a few trips to BPW before they banned curly bars. Great fun and there's definiely a technique to landing a CX bike on some of the tabletops they have there!

Thanks for the link, yes he has very similar thinking to me.  I have ridden fixed for majority of last 20 years and all of it on mix of road and gravel and whenever I fancy a change and get a geared bike it only ever lasts a few months before getting a fixed gear again, there is just something about if for me.

Great, was already gravel-curious and this may have pushed me over the edge. Marketing success 🙂

Certainly makes those of us riding tamer trails badly on our enduro gnarpoons look a bit silly doesn't it!

He is really awesome at riding down stuff really fast. I do think he needs a better film crew. I always find his films too staged. People pretending they are shocked that he's riding fast doesn't work. Maybe Danny Macs team could help

Loving the retro style paints on the canyon grizl but not loving the £3500k price tag. Seems a lot of dollar for an OK gravel bike 🙂

Jealous of the speed he was carrying over the chundery singletrack at the start, I'd have dinged a rim or pinch flatted a tyre at that speed on that sort of terrain! 40mm tyres can sometimes be found wanting surprisingly 🙄

Doesn't take much 😉 - even rather crappy rider me overtook a couple of Santa Cruz FS (natch) bikes at QECP on a Boardman gravel bike (natch) on 37mm tyres... *goes off to polish his medal of awesomeness*

I *think* that there are some neat cuts in the film while tyres were sorted or wheel trued...
