Planning a day out in the next couple of weeks, does anyone have a GPS route they could share?
How many of you have done this and how long did it take?
Yikes! Have I read this right? You're planning a route from Middleton Top - in the White Peak - up to and around the Mary Townley Loop? In one day? I'm guessing there must be another Middleton Top ๐ฏ
here is a gpx file of the MTL
Did it last year, not sure how long it took us? Def most of the day but was at a leisure pace with stop off for pub meal etc etc.
If I was doing it from near Matlock then I would have added on another day? More details here http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/Penninebridleway/
did it a while back - here's words an ting:

'twere a grand day out ๐
Yip, the plan is to do the ride from Middleton Top in the White Peak and then around the MTL anticlockwise, in the day.
I'm ok with the MTL section of the ride but never done the section from Middleton Top to the MTL and I don't fancy taking a wrong turn. Hopefully it's well signposted.
twinklydave, nice write-up.
You must be super-fast and super-fit then. I did the MTL in a steady 7 hours. I know people do it much quicker but - yikes! - from Middleton Top as well is one big day in the saddle. I notice the Pennine Bridleway website mentions 3 - 5 days to cycle TO (not including) the MTL ๐ฏ
If you're serious good luck. I'd get sponsored and raise a bit of money. That's a big outing for a day.
Starting at Middleton Top and around the MTL anticlockwise is about 119 miles and about 4800m climbing. It takes around 13 - 14 hours if you don't hang about. The first hour and a bit is old railway trail so easy and fast - could be done before sunrise if you wanted more light towards the end. It's generally very well signposted but you will need a map and/or gps for some junctions and to confirm where you are.
