Is the black really worth the extra or silver better with touch screen?
I ride with a club/friends of a sunday and commute 5 times a week.
Today i recieved the garmin virb and straight out the box the app asked me to update the firmware!! How? No PC!!
So i know the gopro can be updated from the app via wifi but which one? I do like touch screens for settings purposes.
Check out hedcamz.com, they have a mini bullet camera that can do 'loop record' which is ideal for cummuting.
Unless you want to specifically download some footage, it automatically over-rights the oldest recording, so you never have to worry about 'emptying' the card.

Edit... although just noticed one possible problem, the settings are on a text file that you need to access on a pc to change! A mate said his plugs and plays straight to his ipad, so you might be able to do it via a phone.
That Hedcam looks exactly like a Roadhawk Ride, of which I have one (and it was cheaper). If they are indeed the same I'd steer clear. Night time recording is pretty poor and in cold conditions the battery life is greatly reduced. I'm only getting around 30 minutes at the moment
Pretty sure the gopro can overwrite old files, and it automatically splits video into 10min sections. Id not worry about running out of space tho, ive got a huge amount of hours on a basic card, way more than a weeks worth of commuting and deleting files is really easy from the app.
As regard to which one. Get a silver 3 or 3+ with wifi. You dont need more for what your trying to achieve, the quality is still superb.
I'm intersted in this too. I'm minded to go for the Black as I want the highest quality. However will I be able to see any difference between the Black and the Silver without a 4K TV?
I have the black, it's fantastic, not sure if this helps ๐
the Black you get all the remotes etc the silver you get touch screen. Depends what you value more. For commuting the basic hero would suffice
I just bought a hero 4 black for the 120fps slow motion at 1080p. One thing I would advise is checking that any computer you want to edit will cope with editing 4k or such high fps clips. I have the new 5k imac and editing 120fps is slower than I would like.
Picture quality is outstanding though but you probably wont notice and difference in 1080p to 4k unless you are viewing on a 4k monitor.
The 5k imac screen is good as it allows full size 4k editing with tool bars around it.
Cheers for the advice. I doubt the laptop would cope by the sounds of it.
I guess I need a new laptop ๐

What are you going to do with anything you record on the Virb then? ๐ฏ
Second hand go pro or maybe one of the cheap go pro's unless you are going to do something more than just record.
The settings are easy to do with the button on the go pro.
Got a Rollie one similar to go pro in size screen on back, 2.5 hr record time ands waterprrof.
and just updated it to this
Both from staples, also from Argos for the rollie one
