Ok so I searched and couldn't find a thread on the topic, I'm sure there is one somewhere, but hey.

So what are your' tips for getting rid of rust? Please post below.

I found a good one that I used to clean up some 'vintage' rims that I'm going to re chrome (hopefully);

Bicarbonate of soda (83p)* + vinegar (£1.19)* on the metal and brush it with the shiny side of aluminum tin foil (54p)*

Apparently it works very well on rusty tools.

Buy carbon.

Seriously...you will need to protect the steel from rust after-that may the tricky bit.

Bicarb and vinegar would neutralise each other, I'd have thought.

Damn, Al you busted me...The rims I happen to be re-chroming are Ragleigh (700).

Is the above rust remedy

blast it off to SA2.5 and recoat with a zinc rich epoxy primer, high build epoxy intermediate and polysiloxane top coat
for 'home brew Raleigh refurb'?
