We normally stay in Afan Lodge as rooms are nice and its in a good spot right by the trails but they had no draft beer at all last time we stayed (December 2012) as it was so quiet so maybe check. I always used to find the former railway station in Cymmer to be very good. Proper pub and more friendly than you might expect.

+1 for the railway, nice beer and a £10 16oz gammon steak...
