Any good deals around at the moment? Best I can find is around £30 for Specialized Purgatory 2.3 2Bliss. Anything better in a similar vein? I manage to get my last tyres for £20 each so I resent paying £40 for a single tyre.

Just how beefy? It takes a while to find them but Specialized Butcher SX and Controls come along unusued-but-used quite often as they're shipped as OEM on a lot of specializeds, and people take them off because they're not cool 😉 Their loss my gain, they're ace.

(if you want 2, then Freeborn are ace for Specialised- Purgs and Butchers are £54, and I think they'll mix it on request)

Oh- SX isn't officially tubeless ready, but thinks it is, they mount and seal just like the 2bliss controls.

If you are talking Beefy winter tyre, the GEAX Datura UST £15 from On-One is great!

Thanks folks. Just put in an offer on ebay for a new Purgatory taken off a stumpy. The Freeborn offer is good but I've not tried them yet so I dunno if I want two.

Those Geax look a great deal but I think a bit beefier than I'm after for 'xc' use.

Is Kenda Nevegal 2.35" too beefy? £16.75 on bike-discount in any case. £21 for 2.1".
