Heading up for a couple of days starting Friday, and just needed a good recommendation for a clean/friendly pub, hotel, even b&b that was pretty close to the Glyncorrig centre for Afan, and somewhere close to trailhead in Brechfa.

I have a car, so a drive away is OK- but prefer as close as possible.
I'm on my own, so a local boozer with a little life would be nice.

any suggestions welcomed.

Afan lodge, nice little bar / restaurant and reasonable prices.

Me and some mates stayed here - very hospitable host and a pub about 100m away (although not sure I'd describe it as having a little life!). 5 minute ride to Afan.

Garage for safe bike storage etc.

Green Lanterns near Neath is great. In between Afan and Brechfa (closer to Afan - 15mins away by car). £15 inc full english (in the bunkhouse, more for a room). The steak house serves the best steak I've ever had, 16oz ribeye was to die for! Good bar too.

Bryn bettws looks good- but I'm not really up for bunkhousing! And cabins are a litle pricey for one person.
Shame, as I reckon it would be a good place.
