Hi, Busted my 9speed derailleur on last nights ride. tempted with 10 speed... So, thats a 10 speed mech and 10 speed shifter, but will 10 speed chain run with the existing rings up front??

Assuming the rings aren't too worn you'll be fine. How worn is the 9spd chain & cassette? If they're pretty worn then go for it, if they have plenty of life left, I'd be inclined to keep them a bit longer.

Thanks for the info. Bigyinn, you're correct. Pleanty of life left in the cassette and rings, etc. I'll probably just put new 9 speed back on as it is probably waste of £££ trashing a new system in the winter mud. I'll wait for everything to wear a bit more.

I just liked the idea of new clutch thingee on + versions of 10 speed mech. It wont make me go faster... or will it?! 🙂

Little point in going 10-speed if you're chain and cassette are relatively new. Replacing the mech, shifter, chain and cassette in one go will be pricey.
