Anyone who can help please make my biking stag do perfect

I think there is a FC sign at the start of secrets and lies saying 'trail closed' or something at the moment! Though the spooky climb is closed just now so maybe its gone.

Secrets and Lies is just a slop-fest for the most part at this time of gear anyway so no major loss. Broon troot is looking a bit worse for wear now too, mostly from nobbers straight lining the bits they find too hard ๐Ÿ™

Go to Inners. Or try Gypsie Glen.

I've only ridden two of the Stanes, GT and Inners, and I preferred Inners too, and that was with a fairly serious hangover for the climb. Cleared the hangover as I came out of the trees, the descent was ace!

As Legend said they will both be really muddy at present and prob not worth the effort. Secrets and Lies barely dries out during the summer.

Gypsy Glen is a great ride and can be down in about 2 hours starting from the GT car park and can be extended to take in some of Cademuir or Glentress on the way back.

E-mail me if you want any more details

Cheers

I did Gypsy Glen two weeks ago and it is frozen solid and riding nicely.

I guess it may be a bit wet now if things have thawed.

OP - when are you planning this for?

Tweedlove 2010 (i think) did a big loop from GT offroad to Inners, up Gypsy Glen and back to GT via cademuir not sure if their is a map on their site for it, or may be worth emailing them

Guys thanks for all the advice, I spend a fair amount of time in the GT/Inners being from Newcastle so just looking for different things to ride when I'm up, planning a stag weekend up that way mid June so would like a couple of variations like secrets etc to keep things interesting especially worth a couple of days riding.....will be stealing clear of anything like secrets in the wet if they are easily damaged as I k ow we hate people riding our local trails when wet as it causes too much damage just wanted to try find the trail entrances ready for the short dry season we get,

ijs445ra - I will drop you a email later today when I'm not browsing from a phone at 5:30am, I havnt re-read anything iv written above but no doubt it makes no sense (I can barley keep my eyes open this jour on NS)

Cheers

Google 'tweed trails' there's a website that shows waymarked trails in the tweed valley including gypsy glen. Also check out the 'john buchen way'.
Was up gypsy glen on

Closures are all good I don't want to damage anything, just need a clue as to where secrets & lies / broon troot start......what is the super steep straight line trail that comes out at the little lake?

The fall line trail thing was mostly gone last time I looked. It was very good fun at the top.

Take it the fall line is the uber steep trail down to the ponds?? Love that trail! Had a few less experienced mates out with me not so long ago who thought they could kill it but instead killed themselves lol

The fall line trail used to start at Ewok Village and end at the ponds. Is it all pretty much gone now?

The start at the Ewok village was destroyed by harvesting a while back. Struggled to pick a route through last time i attempted it and really was not worth it.

The lower sections were pretty messed up with fallen trees as well. I have not been back to have a look recently.

Yeah the whole of fall line is sadly in a mess at the moment, it's the only one of the "off piste" trails I ever found at gt thus the reason for this thread.......might have to head up fr a scout around to see if I can find the other two (I won't be riding if closed) but still after some clues, been watching a few vids and secrets looks good

Had a great natural'ish Xc loop with Couldashouldwoulda of the parish doing the 3 brethern . What a great trail. The dissapointment of climbing to the top of Minch moor only to descend the first small section then start climbing again over the SUL way was soon forgotten with some great descents from the Brethern trig and a great blast through Yair forest .

Thanks for the guiding Csw and Ill catch you soon. Anyone know If the 3 Brethern route is better than Gypsy way. ?

Location removed. Mod

If S&L is closed, please dont ride it. It really needs dried out and although when dry its really fun, just now its not great which is a shame cos its a brilliant piece of trail. Just needs some TLC

Neither of those routes could be called better, just a wee bit different to each other - equally as good.

Close your eyes, spin around, then walk in the direciton you're pointing, you'll find something interesting that isn't on the maps. There's treasure everywhere...

radoggair, seriously? Any chance you could take that down? Posting that on a public site's not cool at all.

Northwind - it's hardly a secret trail anymore. Look at how many people on here know about it.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned The Rockie yet.

Aye, and how does that happen? There's a difference between tell your mates and tell google. I've shown people these trails, knowing they weren't going to rip the hell out of them... but putting in the same post "here is how to find them" and "doh, they get ridden by idiots"...

They clearly get ridden by idiots anyway. There are far superior trails at GT than S&L and BT. And in places where you will never have anyone else bother you - ever.

Was the main section of S+L not bolloxed with deadfalls in that storm of 2 years ago? Didn't know people still rode it - woodwork was in a terrible state and always seemed pish wet through.

There's a hiking trail that goes down a bit to the east of there that is still absolutely choked with fallen trees - would be impassable for an old person, say. Always wondered why the FC didn't clear them, or if there was some environmental reason to leave them be.

The FC are clear that these aren't public trails and shouldn't be broadcast. That should be reason enough, but if it becomes public enough, they'll both likely be removed. Word-of-mouth alone brings them as much traffic as they can stand.

Yes, some idiots already know where they are. Does that mean more idiots won't be worse?

Indeed and this thread is currently #1 result on Google for "glentress secrets and lies".

How would anyone who didn't know of the trail know to search for "glentress secrets and lies"?

I knew the names of the secret trails at Glentress before I rode them.
