Worth going Sept / Oct for a weekend or am I going to get bitten to death by midges?
You'll be fine. 1st frost'll see 'em off.
the massive spiders have eaten all the midges, same as the salmon have been eaten by the great white sharks in the tweed
fact
How big are the spiders?
Pretty big at that time of year ๐
They are the size of a dinner plate I swear
don't stop and they don't eat you
They also close half of the black route because the haggis are in season

LMAO ๐
It's OK telling him about the spiders etc.
but Its worth mentioning that there's a good likelihood that the winter snows will have arrived by then & the border will be closed until next spring

You may jest but the whisky warehouse repairmen who are trying to make good the damage from last winter's snow are now bricking themselves. They've had a long range forecast predicting snow as early as Sep. So there you have it folks. Go to Wrexham. It's safer.
Are the haggis poisonous? How fast can they run?
Are the haggis poisonous?
no. but its a nightmare trying to clean them of you disk brake post ride 8)
Midges are never really a big problem at Glentress, there are normally some good spells of weather around Sept as well.
Just watch out for the massive spiders they are looking to feed before they hibernate!
Watch out for clouds of dust caused by Smee riding there as well. You can be lost in those clouds for days, even the spiders have trouble navigating then.
