I took my 13 year old step-son and his mates to Glentress for his birthday last weekend. Starting from the top, every time we finished a section I would wait with a not-so-small amount of anxiety until they all appeared round the last corner. 1,2,3,4,5 - ok. phew. 🙂
Everyone knows that riding a hardtail round GT is for mincers. Fully rigid is the only true way. Added points for drop bars and/or 4" tyres.
steeveydoesit I think we saw you? quite a big bunch of kids? One bailed and went down the fireroad with an adult not far behind I think.
I've only been to Kielder once but there was nothing about it I could recommend.
+1, it's OK, but the black was more like "blue, with a big hill to climb first and a couple of steps".
Pook - Did you get a government grant for taking the special needs kid out?
Yep it's good.
Did the Blue with the Mrs recently. Their grading is slightly different from england it seems... a lot of fun. Found some sneaky, steep unofficial trails too which were awesome!
Quite like repeating that final descent from Buzzards nest too, hitting the black bits at speed feels cool.
If that was you Steveydoesit - we were at the top of that climb when you were testing the kids on Test Match Special.
Binners - I've put the application in....
Nice video - i thought you were running with the camera at one point!
+ 1 - Me and the mates love Glentress - What's not to love, such a good variety, if you want a long haul, do the black, a 4 - 5 hour red, do it a couple of times and session the top 3 sections a few times - Excellent!
Plus the jump park and Berm Baby Berm - Loads of fun!
Im going on Saturday - Looking forward to the mub bath 🙂
Pook - Could have been us, one did bail after super G I think. I forgot how tricky some bits got until we dropped in 🙂
cheers Alan - not me on the camera riding, though I am in those bits.
got to go back soon.
Steeve he had a wierd eval kaneval style helmet/fullfacer on and as he passed us he had a right mood on
A friend of mine rode round GT last week singlespeed rigid with Mary bars! Rode from Edinburgh in the rain then back via The Meldons minus one spoke and a wobbly wheel - all in the rain 😀
Can you guess who?
We're loving this video in Brazil Pook - keep up the good work.
What about Kirroughtree as a tech trail centre - with some seriously steep uphill rock features?
Aaargh, the Judgement slab! Harder than fort william dh 😉
Some attempts!

Simon you are read my mind
Glentress is great but in my opinion isn't anywhere near as good as Innerleithen. Would like to try and memorize this route from the King and queen enduro though http://www.trailscotland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=3468&p=36674&hilit=king+and#p36505
we were going to do inners but it was rammed with the ixs downhill being on
hora - nah, that wasn't any of my lot. They were all on hire bikes with the cheap xc lids on. They loved Magic Mushroom almost as much as I did. That's mushroom. singular 😀
