Hi guys looking at the 12 inch 2012 for my son but can't find a listed weight anywhere.
Before someone suggests the giant website, don't bother as they spill out a massive cop out.....
Weight How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. At Giant, we believe the only way to truly know the weight of any particular bike is to find out for yourself at your local retailer.
I think that's pretty poor.imo.
Cheers
Why is it poor? If company X weighs a bike without pedals or any of the accessories (some frame weights are without mech hangers or paint for instance, or 12" kids bike without the chain guard or stabilisers) and another doesn't it's not a fair comparison.
Anyway- they're not a bad weight, not as light as an Isla bike but much lighter than a steel £80 Raleigh. It's pretty good. Why not go to the LBS you're buying it from and weigh it yourself?
Sounds like Giant are being sensible to me.
Yep i can see your point it must be really hard to weigh the bike as sold ( these bikes come made up with pedals and chain guard. What you see is what you get ). Then state it as such next to the weight on the website. Islabike roughly 6kg specialized hotrock roughly 9kg that's 50% different. Why should I waste my time going to a store nowhere near me to find out a bike is possibly heavier .
