Thinking of going tubless and have Mavic 321 rims, anyone used a ghetto setup to go tubeless on these rims? Any info/tips would be greatfully recieved.
They are quite a deep rim so a layer of foam mounting tape is required to get the tyres to seat quickly. If your tyres dont seal with one layer then just add a second as different tyres are tighter than others. I also add a final wrap of double sided tape to hold the 20" tube in place on the rim which allows for a few tyre changes after installation.
I use them with the 20" tube method and never had a problem. Always maxxis tyres with wire bead though.
There's a pretty good guide here. ๐
Cheers, might give it go this weekend ๐
Just a layer of Stan's tape and a set of Maxxis LUST tyres works perfectly for me. Nuff said.
