Hi guys,

Got t-boned on a roundabout a couple of days ago whilst merrily riding along (will do another post re advice on action to take), am wondering if anyone can advise how/where to get my bike - frame really - tested to see if its still useable or a death-trap.

Cheers,
Rob

Any idea what it entails? Its a half carbon jobby and although anything I can see at a quick glance looks superficial (and minor) I'm wondering how the tell whats going on inside without an x-ray machine.

I rode an old 98 stumpy M2 into a car at about 25mph and haven't ridden it since. There is obvious damage like the brake levers are bent, wheels, etc, but nothing obvious on the frame. I'm too scared to ride it though in case the head tube decides to seperate in traffic at high speed or something! I'm not even sure about recycling the Recons on it, they look OK but took a massive impact. I don't see what a bike shop are going to see that I can't so I've never bothered to take it in, need a drive through x ray machine!

Just spoken to a nice chappie @ Websters Cycles in Leicester (roadie specialists)who says there's no way he knows of checking the integrity of a carbon frame (mine has C rear triangle, which definately took a whack). He also said there's no assesment he can make that I can't.

I think he'll be quite happy to do an assesment for insurance though.
