I've got a Cube Reaction TM, thinking of address Ng 10mm to the forks and getting a 1 degree angle headset. Should give me just over a degree slacker her angle without too much change to reach and stack. Could also get a slightly longer stem.

Has anyone done anything similar, thoughts and experiences?

The lack of replies either indicates that everyone else who has done the same has died horribly, or that they are out riding, enjoying the sun.

Perhaps you are the first? What have you got to lose?

I think it will be fine, but you might not notice the difference.

Try a 26" wheel in the rear and see how it feels. Can you add 20mm at the front?

Whatever happens (horrible death aside) it can all be reversed.

I increased fork travel by 20mm and fitted a -2 deg angle set on a steel hard tail. Its an absolute riot now.

If you don't like it just revert back

I increase fork travel by 10mm and installed a -1 deg Works headset on my Commencal Meta, improved the whole riding experiance.

A few replies now so not everyone is dead....

I could go up by 20, it's got 130 at the moment and 67 degree head angle. I dont think I need to go as far as 65 degrees... But you never know.

It's already got a fairly short reach, which is comfy for me when seated but I do notice it when standing. So I want to sort of cancel the reach shortening effect of more travel with the angle headset. So plus 20mm would need 2 degree headset and I'd have a chopper!?

I did notice with longer fork that reach felt reduced but as you say angleset balanced that out and its negligible. What is your seat angle?

Stock seat angle is 73.5

longer fork will push that slacker and may affect climbing. You can move saddle forward but if short reach already then not ideal. Mine was 75.4 so could take a degree off

Adding 10mm to the forks and useing a -1 degree headset will slack the head angle by just under 1.5 degrees, the change on the seat tube will less than a quarter of a degree slacker. The drop in reach will be less than 3mm, not noticeable really.

Robertpb agree, all marginal really. I'd try angleset at 2degrees first then see how it feels then look at fork changes.

Mmm I'm weary of just doing the headset and not forks as that will drop the BB. It's already -61 and any lower might be a problem.

3mm short reach is fine, the current stem is 30mm so I could swap it for 40 or even 50.

As you say matching a fork travel increase to an angleset won't impact reach all that much so I really wouldn't worry about it.
I went +20mm and -2deg and it was a great improvement all round.

Kamakazi, how many degrees do you think your head angle changed by with that combo?

I've put anglesets and bushings and suchlike in probably half my bikes over the years, never once has it been a mistake. Fork people rightly do think about the seat angle and BB but say you add 10mm, once it's sagged in that's an amount that- well, an amount that could be caused just by your preference in sag, in fact. So It's not likely to be problematic.

I’m on a 140mm full sus, designed around a 140-150mm fork. Bought it as a frame only and put my 160mm fork in it. Rode just fine to be honest but I felt the need to tinker and fitted a works -2 deg headset. It’s made everything better to put it simply. Climbs better as it’s made the seat tube angle steeper, so even though the head angle is below 64deg i get no front wheel lift on steep ups. It Lowered the bb back to roughly what it should be with a 140mm fork. Only minor issue was the front wheel feeling quite far away and losing front end grip if I wasn’t consciously leaning forward on flat turns. Upped the stem length from 35 to 50mm and it’s a lot better. Try it mate, doubt you’ll be disappointed

can you add an angleset to a Cube Reaction?

In my Reaction, the bearings drop into the cups in the frame.

Good question.... I've never used an angle headset before... They come in a few varieties. It does have an integrated headset.
