Does anyone have any experience with a Caribou Jnr? There's one for a good price nearby and we're looking for my lad's next bike, up from a 16" wheeled single speed Islabike.
As I see it, the main advantages are good spec eg discs, decent frame etc and of course the monster truck wheels, but I presume they come with disadvantages as well - such as the trials-specific rims which limit tyre choice, and the inevitable weight.
On a quick test ride (by him, not me!)I noticed the handlebars had a greater tendency to 'flop' to one side like the bike had a very slack head angle, which I guess is as a result of the larger tyres?
Anyone any experience as running one as an only bike? Can they keep up with 'normal' kids bikes, or should we be looking a the next Islabike up etc?
Nobody? Blimey...
ive got a caribou snr? scratched the fatbike itch with it, but not really used it since my daughter grew out of the tag-along...
wouldnt buy one for a wean tbh. once the novelty wears off it will just be slow and less versatile.
My 7 year old has one and enjoyed it a great deal but it's not best suited for long rides as it's more than a bit draggie for her. Her bike has had lots of envious looks and comments. It will be going soon as she wishes for a cx bike and it's now two small for her.

Hmm, this is my concern as well. We're not going to be doing all day epics, but I'd rather it didn't slow him down when doing towpath stuff etc.
Full tilt at curbs though!
😀
