I know the Latitude is the updated version with the fancy-pants tapered headtube etc, but is the basic geometry the same?

Okay, so now I'm confused, 'cos I did some Googling and according to here:

http://www.cyclistno1.co.uk/gear/bikes/mountain/genesis-altitude-30.htm

and here:

http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/frames/latitude-853/geometry

They're basically the same.

Anyhoo, I'm more interested in comparing the Altitude to the 456, which I've been able to do using the first link (assuming that's right)

Yeah, ta, I was comparing it my old-skool 456.

456 is long, innit...

it depends how you define similar ) +/- a half degree on head and seat angles on paper is close to many but a re-design to others. it's a different geometry but will ride similarly with a shorter / rigid fork.
