Might be stupid question but...

using my xt skewers on the non drive side means that I can't run the skewer with the leaver facing backwards, due to the offset does anyone else have this problem and solutions . ie do i need a new skewer?

This is what i have been doing but i thought the thinking was that if run this way there is a risk of the skewer opening if caught on rocks / plants etc

I believe it's common practise to face them backwards to prevent them getting knocked open by undergrowth etc. Haveing said that if they're done up properly I'm not sure it matters.

Not heard that before but I guess there is some thinking behind it albeit with very low odds of it happening. Always ran my levers facing forward though and never once had a problem

Have a look at an XT rear skewer. Assuming you run it with the lever at the disk side (doesn't everyone?) the writing on it can only be the right way up if the lever is facing forward.
