Hi,

If I was in top gear on my road bike (50/11), what combination would I need to have on a 26' wheel bike to get the same output/difficulty etc?

What's the calculation to work out different gearing.
Thanks.

Squin.

Tyre size makes a difference

or this -->

Basically front ring / rear cog * wheel size

And very roughly can use 26 and 27 as the two wheel sizes if you just want to work it out in your head (assuming average 26 MTB tyre (2 inch) and average 700c tyre (1 inch)
