Im home for christmas in devon and fancy checking it out, been on their website and have a couple questions:

Is it busy? (say if i went in the morning-dont wana get run down)

I don't mind paying, but is there someone there to collect cash, how does it work?

Will i have fun on my HT?

Cheers

not massively busy. probably be plenty of people about over the holidays though. 3 big tracks to spread people out though.

if your not a woodland riders member (£25 a year) then you'll need to get a day pass (£5) from Dartmoor Cycles, or a committee member if you find one on sight.

HT is really fun on HSD and could be on super-tavy and egypt if your good enough....

As long as its not a sunday, go into Dartmoor Cycles and pay a fiver for a day pass. It won't be busy like a welsh trail centre, especially not in thr morning. We go up early on sundays and sometimes don't see anyone else until 10.30.

You will have great fun on the HSD track but I wouldn't reccommend the other 2 unless your hardtail has a silly slack head angle. There are a couple of locals who do the other 2 tracks on HT's but they really are quite excellent riders.

Only made it to Gawton once so far since getting my membership. HSD is great fun on a HT, but there is no way you'd get me down Suer Tavy or Egypt on a HT!

Don't listen to the doubters, take your HT down any track you fancy and you'll be fine. Last time we were up there a friend took an Orange P7 demo bike down Egypt in the pissing rain and had a right laugh.
I'd probably think twice about taking a racey XC bike down there, but any normal slack-ish trail bike will be fine, just maybe not that quick! Your Chameleon should love it.

I need to make an effort to get back up there over the Christmas break, it's an awesome place, and I've still not had the chance to experience chip shop.
