Gary Fisher Big Sur Frame, Fox 36 Talas forks,
Is this a good combination. The fisher is an XC race frame and comes with 100mm forks as standard. Will a set of 36 Talas forks work perfectly with this frame? the forks are 100-130-160m travel?
Is it going to damage the frame?
Geometry will be weird at 130/160. Especially since the Fishers use the G2 offset fork crown.
Probably invalidate your warranty.
Very odd combo - why?
Might it damage the frame? - possibly.
Is it a good combination? - no.
Why? - light agile XC trail frame being held back by heavy industrial forks, which unless they also are offset in the manner appropriate to the G2 geometry will totally wreck the balance and handling of the bike as well as possibly cause damage to frame and rider.
