Just got a replacement gps60csx from garmin after my original one broke falling out of the cycle bracket. I've tried using both my UK Topo and City Navigator Europe sd cards but I get a message saying "Can't unlock maps". I guess that these maps are locked to the original unit. How do I get the maps registered and working on my new unit?
I get a nasty feeling you can't, but I could be wrong

You have to call Garmin Support for a new unlock code. Done it several times on my 705 which on its fourth incarnation
Nope you can't I checked - stupid IMO ๐ฟ
Edit: really - I emaild garmin support and they said no I can't? What gives - ๐ฟ
Edit: ahh - replacement yes, transfer to a different device no?
As a result, if you would like to use
this same mapping on the Edge 800 it will be necessary to purchase a new
copy of the mapping for use specifically with this device.
So lets be clear. As the OP asked he CAN get an unlock code for the replacement device
Thanks chaps, I've just got a new unlock code for the Topo maps from Garmin support which is great, not so great is that it seems the City Navigator Europe maps are probably not genuine Garmin, (well I did get it off eBay so probs no surprise there)
OK OK - so I wasn't being that clear but for everyone else I just got a reply from Garmin about transferring topo and the like from one device to another:
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.Once a Garmin mapping product has been associated with a Garmin device
that mapping license will only allow the mapping to be used with that
specific Garmin device. If you have any other Garmin units that you
wish to use the mapping with the these will require their own copy of
the mapping software for use on them. The only exception to this is for mapping purchased on pre-programmed SD
cards. As these maps are specifically associated to the card and not to
a Garmin device the card can be moved between devices and will provide
mapping within the device for as long as it is inserted to that unit.
Note however that there is no option for this software to be used on a
computer for any form of planning.
