Apologies if this has been asked/compared before but can anyone tell me the main difference between the Garmin Edge 800 model and the new-ish Touring Special as there is quite a difference in the prices.

Some websites have a comparison function to compare these models but annoyingly tell you nothing useful, only things like size, size of screen, battery life etc. Both have GPS function but what is missing from the Touring model that keeps the cost down?

As I understand it, the touring version does away with some of the petformance/training functions like cadence and heart rate, and gives better mapping and battery life.

But I may have misheard/interpreted what I wanted to hear. Is the touring on sale yet btw?

If yo go on the Garmin website, you can compare the models side by side to see where the differences are

GingerOne I tried that and didn't find it very useful 🙁

The Touring special is currently in Halfords for 199, with rrp of 249.

Click on the specs tab.

It looks like it does the nav and route recording but no power cadence HRM functions.

Edge Touring is £180 at Wiggle, by the way.
