garmin do one based on a powermonkey.

you need a special configuration of usb lead or the garmin goes into charging/data transfer mode. one of the pins that live in normal USBS is not live in the one needed.

normal back up batterys dont work without the special lead.

i just plugged mine in at the last 24 hour race; seemed to deal with it.

I have just bought one of these:

It only turned up this morning, so haven't used it in anger, but it charges my Garmin 800 while it is turned on.
