[Closed] Garmin Dakota and Memory Map?

I've just switched from a Vista to a Dakota and am having some problems. Most of my tracks and maps are in Memory Map format. But now, when I connect the Dakota and launch MM, the unit immediately goes into mass storage mode and cant be seen by MM.

Are they compatible with each other? The Basecamp software looks pretty useless, I want Memory Map (or Tracklogs) back!

The unit seems pretty good otherwise, especially with 50k OS maps installed

cheers

Given that MM recommend the Dakota - I would have thought it should work

maybe worth looking at the settings in the Garmin

Yes they are compatable, I had to mess about with the settings to get them to work right (I think the PC sees the memorycard & goes into mass storage device mode overruling the MM software) & the routes uploaded to the Garmin don't appear where you'd expect! I'm sure there is a FAQ section on the Garmin website or a GPS users forum that I found when I first set my Garmin up.

Progress so far - the new version of MM can see the unit when it is in mass storage mode, but now MM wants me to reregister and activite various maps etc. Also, you have to restart the Dakota when unplugging the usb lead. Bit of a pain really.

Snaps - if you remember what you did, I'd like to know!

Sorry but can't remember fully, but sure I found some info on the Garmin users forum or FAQ, have a dig about here http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Computer+Transfer as think the Oregon uses the same GUI
