Garmin buys start-up that's developing rear view warning radar for bikes.

Could work...
perhaps it means one of my ideas might be implemented - display the distance / time between 2 cyclists (perhaps previously synched / agreed to share data). e.g. when trying to give someone a 'tow' I'd like to know if I was dropping them / keeping the distance the same.
They could make one that doesn't bother telling the rider, it just releases a load of caltrops automatically. That'll learn 'em for getting too close... ๐
caltrops
New word of the day form me thanks.
a company working on a bike radar that tells cyclists the speed and distance of vehicles approaching from behind.
A lovely idea but what do I actually do with the information?
You'll either have an over-sensitive little LED box going mental on your bars during the commute home, or else a it shows nothing for miles and then a sudden "Brace for Impact!" warning...
It can detect rear-approaching cars at a distance of 140 meters
So can my ears...
But how does telling me some oaf is on a collision course from behind actually help me avoid the impact, where's the aid for crap drivers to avoid cyclists?
