I'm looking to do 3 days riding in the Tweed valley and will need to rent a bike, preferably an XL frame. Alpine Bikes want £80 per day for a Nomad or Bronson. Bike Place at Kielder will do me a Hightower LT, which I'm keen to try anyway, for £55. Obviously Kielder is a bit less convenient logistically. Any other options to consider? I'll be driving up from Newcastle so if there's anywhere in the city that could work too. Thanks.

Try Icycles in Innerleithen, http://www.i-cycles.co.uk/
Are you riding solo? If so, if you need a riding partner or help with accomodation, i can maybe belp. C

If you head North on the A68 a loop off to Kielder won't add too much to your journey you can get back on track by heading out of the village towards Bonchester Bridge and link up with the A68 again just shy of Jedburgh ...
Ian Bell is a good mate ( prop.) ..we've just been organising a Fort Bill trip for September ..so if you mention that you have been speaking to Hodgy he's bound to increase the price by a tenner !😁
If you have a bit of spare time take in some of the trails at Kielder ..you will be surprised at how good they are ..

Thanks for the help. I've sent Icycles an email. I did look on their website but bike hire wasn't glaringly obvious, so I missed it initially. I am riding solo, I'm a wee bit antisocial like that.. Not against riding with others, I just don't want to lumber some poor stranger with a whole day of my weak chat!

Cheers Hodgy. Bike Place is looking like the best bet at the moment. I know it's pretty much on the way to the Tweed Valley. It's just a bit limiting having to travel through Kielder during business hours going both ways.
