My son is starting to ride trickier stuff and more aggressively, but hasn't yet had the crash that he very much needs to mute his feeling of invincibility...
In preparation for that I think one of the well vented 'trail' FFs could be a good idea. Head measures about 55cm so unfortunately too large for the IXS Triggers that CRC have for a ton.
Anyone found a well fitting lid for their tiny trail smashers? I'm thinking a Stage/Proframe type thing.
The main issue I have is that he'll decide he wants the one that he likes the colours of most, rather than the best fitting, and then won't want to wear it!
Unfortunately none of the bike shops near me have anything like this, and now CRC don't do free returns, it's not as easy!
7idp fitted my lads pretty well and they have a load on offer at the moment.
I recently bought one of these as my 10yr old wants to enter a DH race. It's pretty light and fits to size well.
My son has a really nice Bell FF. Think it is Sanction?
Also consider junior MX helmets - often not much heavier but usually very good quality.
I’ll second the 7idp.
The base model is decent and cheap enough (£55 at the moment I see) that you won’t cry too much as your 10 year old goes through a growth spurt the day after you buy it.
TLD stage is the best we’ve had for our daughter, she is nine now and she has worn a stage for a few years at a guess. Very comfortable and she wears it throughout the summer with no issues, when it needs replacing, it is with another stage! 🙂
When I was looking for my 4 year old with a 56cm head we narrowed full facers down to the 7IDP or 661.
Ixs trigger came up big for me.
I'm in small/medium and normally a large/medium. Worth a look
Kids have had 661 and Lazer phoenix that worked well, but they're not the venty ones your you're looking for.
