A few questions

Is it worth changing from Purion to Kiox?

Will it end the warranty?

Does the "lock" feature work or is it a useless feature?

It is for a Gen 4 non-smart motor.

Thanks

Is it easy to fit? And does the lock feature leave the locked until the display is returned to the cradle?

You will need to change the cable from the motor I suspect as it requires a connection from the motor and also a connection from the thumb controller so two cables go into the mount.

The smart lock feature enables automatically when you remove the display from the mount, not a deterrent as such but does mean thieving scrotes won't be able to run the motor.

I put the Nyon on mine as the display is bigger and I liked it a lot for everything except navigation. The navigation is awful  and it won't follow any pre-planned routes with turn by turn instructions at all that aren't done on the Bosch Portal and even then there are massive bits missing, so for example it reroutes you around a 200 meter section of a straight road because it has half the road missing on the mapping. Then if you carry on and expect it to pick up where it rejoins it just tries to navigate you back to the place where you deviated from the route. Absolute garbage and virtually unusable.

Thanks for this info.

The lock is my main interest. I never leave my bikes anywhere when out, if I go with my son anywhere someone always stays with the bikes. But have had two stolen from home previously. We have an Asgaurd shed at the side of the house and its a nightmare getting an ebike out so anything that can make this more of a nightmare is a bonus 🙂 Shed faces the side of the house and the shed doors open just enough without touching the wall of the house. That probably explains nothing:)

I doubt I will use the navigation as I doubt I will ever use it on the road.

Does Kiox also enable OTA updates for the motor via phone?

Is this an additional cable to go with the cable already in the Purion?

I can only find one video showing the install and the guy has to remove the motor which i would rather avoid if possible as the bike is new.

Yes I think have to remove the motor, or at least drop it depending on your frame design, remove the old system Inc cables & install the new.
