doesn't really look right, a once state of the art FS reduced to commuting duties, bit of a waste (i suppose it could get knobbly boots too though) just seems a bit of a shame as it looks longingly at any bit of off road on it's way home

I think you are being a bit unfair rocketdog. Don't you remember that photo maybe years ago of those young lads all kitted up with full DH race gear, on their full sussers on a tow path by a canal.
Maybe this is a speed demon getting phat air on a similar tow path by a canal. Maybe this rider is doing things on bikes us XC peeps can't even conceptualise yet?
