Looking to buy lights for winter evening off road fix. Need a beam good enough for South Downs riding. Can't afford crazy money. Magicshine seems good at around £130. Any better ones out there?
Which Magicshine? They do a whole bunch, some are very good, some not so much.
I think my magicshine is great I have the mj880
C and B seen are pretty good too. I'd happily replace my magicshine with one, have used the one I got for my wife a number of times.
See what is lurking on the Exposure clearance section, can be deals on there.
Merlin were doing deals on Moon lights last week, might still be on.
Was thinking the MJ880
The MJ 880 's a good unit, not cheap compared to the solarstorm x2 but should have a quality battery & charger from a UK supplier, also consider MTB Batteries Lumenator or lumen2200 for around the same price, Smudge is a great guy to deal with, who believes in providing great customer service
C and B seen are pretty good too.
+1
you cant go wrong with a set of these lights epsecially at just over £50..
awesome 1200 lumens of power with 3 hour runtime on the 4 cell battery or 6 hours on the 6 cell if the spot beam doesnt work for you then the diffuser lens is a good upgrade
get the MJ872 from Magicshine. nearly as good as the Hope R8 in my back to back testing.
I really like the 872, it's fairly old tech now but it's got a superb beam pattern, the switch towards dual XMLs for lights in its bracket seems to have mostly led towards narrower beams which is a shame. Nice quality unit too.
I've got both the 808 (for the helmet) and the 872 (for the handlebars) both great lights for the money. Had them a couple of years now and done a fair bit of night riding in all conditions with no fuss or hassle. I did upgrade the battery to one of the better ones on the 872 as it lasts longer.
Don't think I could ever justify the money for an exposure or hope over the magic shine ones now.
Got a fluxient with the xml2 Cree. One light does it all. Mounted on helmet Wide beam and very bright with good uk support. Great for night enduro / dh

Great help. Appreciate all the advice. Time to choose! Cheers guys.
2nd on the Fluxient, I have one and one word...amazing! stupid bright and the battery lasts insanely long!
