Best customer service for a warranty issue I have experienced in over 20 years of MTB. Warranty claims usually take forever and usually have more than a hint of accusation. However Freeborn and in particular Joe from Freeborn couldn't do enough to sort the problem and was 100% supportive of me. He seemed only interested in getting me a new frame ASAP before he had even assessed my frame in person. Got a brand new frame out to me in no time at all, nice one Joe and Freeborn superb service.
Duir, was that the spitfire? What happened to it?
Lower front link pivot bolt inadvertantly over torqued at factory (should be no more than 3-5nm). This caused play and wear in the lower link. A new lower link would have satisfied but Freeborn insisted on a whole new frame! New frame all bolts checked by my £120 torque wrench before being ridden.....all A1!
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with that: Banshee are having real trouble manufacturing those to the required tolerances. As a Banshee rider, I won't be getting another one until they replace the bushings with bearings.
As much as I like the bushing system, there are just too many manufacturing issues that they aren't getting right.
I ride a Rune by the way.
Edit: FFS stupid forum - double post.
Well it's early days yet but I think it should be ok now. I don't think the tolerences were the issue, more that they were so tightened that they wore into one of the links. My last frame had a bolt so over torqued that the retaining bolt sheared when I tried to remove it. I believe they will be redesigning the range with bearings and ti hardware for 2013. Nothing rides as well as these bikes so with bearings they will be awesome.
Have you had the chance to ride it much? Be intersted to see your build and hear your thoughts on the spitfire. Shame no bearings till 2013, can't wait that long!
They're sorted the wee issues I've had with my Epi over the years ASP. 2 of which were outside the warranty but they put my case to Ellsworth and got me sorted. Great shop.
