Hello All,

I need a frame to be professionally resprayed. Can any of you good people recommend any companies ideally based in London / Surrey / South East please? I could always ship if the company is incredibly well rated!

Thanks in advance!

Consider powder coating as an alternative to respraying if you don't mind the increased weight.

Fat creations is £800 for a hardtail frame...I don't doubt their quality or craftmanship, but it needs to be a good or very beloved frame for that price. If you're going for a single colour then a normal paint shop would be closer to £200 or less

I’ve used JMJ designs a few times now, and will be using him again. Starts from £250

This guy is in south London. He's done a couple of bikes for a friend and the results have looked good.

@tomhoward - is that paint or powdercoat? I want my Salsa done in a finish like that but I want the durability of powder.

All paint, with Invisiframe (Deviate) or RideWrap (Pivot)

No durability issues so far.

I've just sent off my battered Sinister Ridge to PMC Powder Coaters in Long Eaton and they quoted me £80 comparing that to the above prices it could be interesting what I end up with !!

I had a frame blasted and powder coated a few years ago for around £70.  I got what I paid for...

Personally, I wouldn’t be so keen to have a frame blasted then powder coated. The frame needs to be medically clean before coating, and sometimes the blast media can stick to the frame, ruining the new coat finish. Then if you have to blast the frame again, it can distort the tubes, meaning new frame time.

Ask me how I know this.

Depends what you want, really. I had a frame done recently by the guy who does my car wheels, and he did a beautiful job. I've had frames done by highly recommended specialists who did a terrible job.

But my favourite result, for an alu frame, was anodising, I've had 2 frames done by Acorn Plating/Steve the Anodiser and I love it. It's tough- you need to scrape the metal to hurt it- it weighs nowt, and it looks brilliant. But it tends not to look like a factory finish, especially because welds come out funny (different metals take anodising differently so for anything but really solid colours like black, you tend to end up with varying colours- my burnt orange frames had reddish brown welds). But that's pretty cool too. Mud tends to stick to it less and it catches the light amazingly- like a flip paint, my orange could be almost shiny bronze in the sun, or a deep red in the rain. Love it.

I think next time I might try cerakote though, cerakote up north did some car parts for me recently and it's lovely.

All that money and effort and you've not cut that bolt to size.😮

Like Northwind up there i recently had a frame done by a place that charged 65 quid.
Didn't expect much and didn't really care as it was a frame that was basically free.

Well impressed with the finish.

I quite want sparkly red for my Salsa. It had a sort of crinkly enamel finish originally which was beautiful.

It’s muddy because, despite what some here believe, I do actually ride my bikes, and don’t always meticulously clean them after 🤯
