Good relationship with local bike shop, normally 20% off.
Want an orange gyro, shop don't do orange, have to buy elsewhere. Probably gonna get the Gyro S but with fox fork and hope wheel upgrades, works out about £2700.
Before I ask the first shop to do a similar build and give me a price, has anybody has experience similar? Should I buy the whole bike at retail or just the frame and get a cheap build kit? Do you think I will be saving anything? Rough calculations say no.

Whole bike from shop, frame only if you're doing the build at home. From a value perspective anyway. I'd run full Deore and throw everything at the wheels on a home build if it was me and money was a consideration.
