Looking at getting a coil shock for my 5 spot and for the money the Van R looks like it will take some beating.

So, question is, is it worth forking out the extra £60 to get it Push tuned by TF or stick with the bog standard out of the box shock?

Will I notice any real difference or is it all marketing bollox?

I wouldn't hesitate to get it pushed, but it may be better to get it first and use it for a few weeks and then you'll have a better idea about what you want them to do with the damper when they do the Push tuning.

Apart from upgrading the seals/wipers etc, they will also install a custom shim stack to control the way the damper works. This will be specific to you - weight, riding style, bike etc - and is why the upgrade is well worth it. It's better to know what the unit currently doesn't do to your liking so they can specifically fix it for you.

Any tune from one of the suspension companies will improve the shock.
As the valving/shimming inside is for 'joe average' There's room for improvement by tuning the compression and rebound for your weight and the linkage on your bike.
Not sure the push seals are an 'upgrade' though more a case of Fox not supplying anyone other than their official service centres with seals.
