Does anyone have an issue with their RP2 clunking? It only happens to mine when the propedal is on during the initial rebound stroke (not during compression)and feels very harsh much like a loose headset. It has been this way ever since I sent it for a service and I have sent it back several times for the issue to be resolved but it always comes back feeling the same. It is driving me mad.
I recently had a similar issue on an RP23 - except I think mine was on the compression stroke. Sounded like pivot or rear wheel bearing clunking. After replacing bearings, checking for cracks etc then noticed I also had about 5mm of very undamped travel in the inital part of the stroke. As I understood the explanation, air had got through a seal and the oil was foaming (don't quote me on that). Service c/o TFtuned sorted the problem.
Sounds like an issue with a valve/shim opening/closing if it's been back several times it'll have been stripped and checked so shouldn't be cavitated (nitrogen in oil), depending on who you sent it to.
When the propedal is set to on the shock settles nicely into its sag but with every small bump a harsh clunk can be felt, feels a bit like it's topping out but it's happening mid cycle. You can even feel it when off the bike just by leaning on the saddle. After a short while of riding with the propedal on the clunk seems to fade and the compression returns to being nice and smooth and un-noticable, but flick the lever, cycle the shock a few times and switch the propedal on again and the harsh clunk returns. It's horrible to ride with, I only generally use the propedal when on the road or smooth fireroads but it's bloody annoying when with every little bump or man hole cover and 'clunk'
Would have to look at it to say for sure what the cause is
