[Closed] Forks not at full travel after service, solved but a strange cause

I serviced my RS gold coil recon and everything felt fine, however I found I never used full travel when out riding. So decided to investigate: I removed the spring top cap and drained all the oil from the damper, yet when I compressed the fork I still could not get full travel it felt like it was air sprung...?

I removed the two bolts on the fork lowers, I could hear the pressure release, finally, full unhindered travel.

It seems that when I serviced the fork I had it fully extened when I poured oil into the lowers and tightened the bolts creating effectively an air chamber in the damper side lower leg, I imagined the air would escape past the main wiper seal but no. I fully compressed my fork filled (6ml is hardly filled but...) the lowers with oil - my fork now feels as it should.

Just a heads up and have I been stupid or is this a common thing?
