[Closed] Fork travel too long - shimming?

Hi, got some revelations as a bargain and running them at the moment on a voodoo wanga. It seems to run ok,albeit a bit jumpy, but the front wheel lifts when climbing and I'm concerned about the headset.

Will shimming the forks lower the angles to what they should be, or simply reduce the travel at the bottom end?

Or should I just wait and upgrade to a soul frame which I believe suits a 140mm fork?

Well I think reducing the forks is a shed load less hassle that a new frame! Give Simon at Loco tuning a bell.

Edit...what forks are you running? What fork is your frame rated to?

Cheers seavers, they're revelation 140's with a bolt through maxle.

The frame is an old steel wanga, I think it's supposed to run up to 120mm?

You're right a wanga is 100 to 120mm. You can pop in a travel spacer which will take the travel down. You need to pop the lowers off, which is pretty easy, and then pop out the air unit, pop a spacer onto the air piston and reassemble

Its pretty easy, but if you're not mechanical savvy, give Simon a call ๐Ÿ˜‰
