If I've measured from the top to the bottom of my headset and it is 205mm what is the shortest steerer I can get away with?
depends on your stem - probably 225 with a low stack stem
I'd say 240mm with a 35mm stem (Some FSA stems for example)...a little less given the gap between top steerer and top of stem taking it down to about 237mm. Most stems are 40mm though so you'd be looking at 242mm
Ooops. Bottom of headset to top of stem is 205mm. 😳
In that case, 202mm with the gap between top steerer and top of stem.
