Ok, i am preparing a fork for installation on my bike. My questions are...

1. The crown race has a split, does that line up with one of the notches on the fork crown either front or back?

2. The star nut , how far do you push it down the steerer tube?

Any advice would be great.

The crown race goes on however you like. The split is only to make it simple to install and remove. I'd b tempted to put it at the back though.

Star nut - About 5-10mm down the steerer I'd say. Too far and you'll need a longer top cap bolt. Start of shallow and if the top cap fouls it, you can always push it down a bit more, but you'll never pull it back up if it's too deep! ๐Ÿ™‚

1. I don't think it matters where the split is positioned, it doesn't have any function, just makes fitting easier.
2. Park say 15mm below top.

All above advice is correct - if you dont have a starnut seating tool (which most dont) and you struggle to get the starnut in you can buy some preload caps which bolt in - i.e hope etc - they make installation a little easier.

Other than that, measure twice cut once.... ๐Ÿ˜‰
