[Closed] Fork brake mounting
Hi all,
I think this may a stupid question...but I can't find the answer! Older suspension forks there have a boss that cantilever brakes mount on, right. Is this removable/addable? I want to find some suspension forks which have mounts for canti brakes, but can you add the bosses on afterwards? Am I right that some forks have thread holes to fit the bosses? If so, where can you get them from?
Thanks!
Most of the earlier Pace forks had clamp-on canti bosses, if you could find a pair that fitted your forks (highly unlikely on both counts). Most other forks that came with canti mounts had threaded lugs cast into the fork legs, with the boss screwed into them. Most of these can be unscrewed with varying degrees of ease(some will be fitted using a retaining compound, and need heating to break it down, boiling water usually does it),however removing them from some Marzocchi forks will allow the legs to seperate from the arch.Oh, and just because they could, everybody used different thread pitches and diameters, so it's not as simple as buying bosses off the shelf and screwing them in.
