[#13536070]

evening people.

looking for some advice prior to buying some forks.

well over 15 years since i bought some sus forks.

always loved air forks with the ability to increase the pressure.

bombers, pikes and revelations were my forks of choice in the past.

so looking for something similar.

100mm or 120mm.    air. with a lockout.    and if possible 9mm qr.

any ideas greatly appreciated.

if possible 9mm qr.

That’s gonna be your problem, for anything new. Got hubs with replaceable end caps?

I'd swap hubs, forks will be stiffer and you'll have a lot more choice.

Requirement for QR is going to massively limit what is available to you... It's basically "budget low end" or a 2nd hand fork that's 10yrs+ old...

The "best" fork I know of available aftermarket right now with a QR axle is Rockshox's entry level Judy TK (even then you'll have to look to find one as most of them are through axle)...

A change to a "Boost" (110x15mm) thru axle hub will open up your options massively...

Manitou (Markhor) and Suntour (Epixon) both do QR forks with 100-120mm travel and lockouts, but they are more oriented towards lighter use/XC (as I think most will be in this travel range).

I’d really avoid QR forks unless you’re a featherweight, which you’re not! They feel so bendy and wobbly compared to a decent bolt-thru fork, plus the lack of consistent parallel straightness means the bushings bind so the suspension bit works much worse too.

It is a tapered steerer though isn't it?

Winstanley have QR Judy Golds with 9mm QR in 100mm or 120mm if their website options are to be believed.
