I never heard any machinery working all I can think is as it's a bit of aย  cheeky trail it's their way of trying to stop people riding there ? Usually they just block and dismantle or they are preparing to clear fell the area ?

They've been using those signs in the FoD for years.

Looks like a new design of rear mudguard in that photo.

Rob the sign so you can put it in your garage/bike store/shed.

Plenty of those round Cannock Chase pre and during harvesting. Anyone whose seen the forestry machinery in action would never take a risk to go past it but I'm sure plenty try to get through.

the picture is of a broken tree? is there a rotten tree threatening the trail?

I do always think some more information would be helpful.ย

ย

"stop, because we said so", is just irritating

"stop, theres a rotten tree and we wouldnt want it to fall on you" would make me pay attention

@Olly, they often put a wee explanation on the signs at glentress/innerleithen. Not sure it makes the slightest bit of difference, they had one "trail closed, dangerous fallen trees" and then we added our "trail closed, work in progress" signs and we still had like 30 people ride down the trail in the 4 hours or so we were in there.

Is that not a perfectly normal , bog standard, seen everywhere sign? Or am I missing some in joke?

I pick them up once their obvious use is done and use them for all sorts of things.

  • As I've said only ever seen this message on log stacks etc as @olly said an explanation would be useful. Is it because they are working or because it's a cheeky trail that they want to stop people using?
