Hi all
Has anyone got a Tourneo custom that they use to shift mountain bikes around by putting the bikes in the van?
If so have you got pics please?
Ideally want to be able to transport 3-4 adult MTB’s.
Cheers

We have a LWB one, we can take four bikes and four adults with ease without taking the wheels off.
The third row double seat was taken out straight away and we fold the second row double seat up. Passengers sit behind each other in the single seats. Dog goes behind 3rd row single seat.

That’s awesome, thank you!
I’m considering one of these and a transit custom double cab. Both LWB. Do you think there’s much benefit of the Tourneo over the transit? And vantage of the transit is obviously the bill head and the area in the back can get dirty whilst the area in the front stays clean. I guess the Tourneo must have more creature comforts. What are you securing the bikes to? I can see you have straps in there but I’m wondering if it’s just secured up against the side or if you are doing more than that.

Tourneo has the same speed limits as a car. Not van speeds
It's not a noisy as a van, ours was a Black Friday deal, came with every extra on it. Got it for a bargain price however its taxed on the full price so bumps it up quite a bit.
Bikes just lean against the side and each other, we have them in bike shrouds so that they can't rub against each other and then are ratcheted down with one strap around the outside bike between the folded seat base and the rear eye.

With the shrouds on and the plastic floor trays we don't get mutch dirt in the inside, trays lift out to shake of any dust and grime

We've got the updated version LWB, with 6 individual seats in the back. I use the same sort of shrouds as Tracy to protect the bikes and van. Somewhat by accident, I discovered that I could flip the front wheels right round and get bikes in while still having the middle row of seats in use - back three come out and leave bags of room for 5 or 6 bikes, and the seats for riders.

Thanks. I’m going to check out both the Transit DC and the Tourneo and see which seems best. The biggest concern about the Tourneo I have is keeping it clean after winter rides. If the Transit is ok for family driving too then I reckon I have to go with that just because of the separated rear area.

Double cab comes with a bulkhead that protrudes quite a way into the load area. Might still be OK but when I went van shopping I took my biggest bike just to make sure.

That’s the plan. I’ve got a Levo which is a pretty big bike. Definitely bigger than my XC bike. I don’t mind front wheels off but would prefer not. What did you buy in the end?? Was it ok?

LWB Transit Connect, so that bit isn't relevant to your question. It's a great smallish van though, just the job for my needs.

Both the bikes in my photo are Levos.

Ive an 8 seater SWB tourneo custom - 64 plate.

I can get 2 large 29ers with the middle seats still in place in the boot.

I find i can most bike sidewways on if 1 or 2 wheels come out of the bikes.

Drives really well - and although can do 70 on the motro way - it does like to drink more at that speed... i had my remapped to 180bhp which improved the drivability by getting rid of a dead spot at 1500rpm

I’ve got a SWB double cab and love it. You have to pop the front wheel off but that takes seconds. I feel they’re more secure than a Tourneo as people can’t see inside the cargo are and there’s less windows to break in through. The back seats are pretty damn spacious, 2 toddler car seats and an adult in ours.
They drive really nice as well. We’ve got the Active model (as my wife fancied the nicer alloy wheels 🤦🏼‍♂️).

UPDATE: So I ordered the Transit Custom DC 6 Seater. The Tourneo would have been nice but in the end I liked the idea of the separate load space for a few reasons.
Hoping the bikes fit with wheels on now 🤞
I have to wait until October to get it so it’s going to be a long couple of months but it should be worth it 😁
Also going to get a BikeStow I think. They look like a good solution and can be used in the garage when not in the van.

Our daughter usually dissappear in the Tourneo Connect. However she managed to convince her dad that the Custom would be better to take this time.
She has gone for a couple of weeks and after taking the remaining seats out has made enough room for the bikes and a mattress. I think she would have been better with a fold out bed but didn't have time to get one.

The window blinds are from the Connect and as such only fit where they touch

Tracey, those bike shrouds like just what I'm after. Can I ask where you got them from? Thanks.
