Flattop powerlink on non-flattop 12 speed MTB chains?

I have hunted the interweb but I am none the wiser!

Can I use flattop Eagle power links on a standard Eagle chain?

Yes as long as they are the same speed e.g. 12 speed

A) Why would you want to they’re about a gazillion times more expensive

B) I think they are slightly narrower.
