Does anyone run 16omm. or 165mm. cranks on their fixie. I'm 5'4" with a 27" instep, and could easily run 165's but am thinking of 160's. Your thoughts please.

I use 175 as they were all I could get hold of at a sensible price

For your inside leg size 165s would be fine. The size of gear also has a bearing. The lower the gear the shorter the crank can be.

I'd be happy with the 165 on that but if you can easily get 160s go for it. Better clearance. Nice gear size.

I commute on a fixed gear and my previous cranks were 170, they were replaced by 165s and I really can't txell the difference. also lost a tooth on the ring in the process so am now running 48x16 fwiw

changes of one tooth more or less on cranks or 55mm on the cranks really isn't a biggie IME

Thanks everyone. Sheldon Brown was a big advocate of short cranks on fixies. Anyone know of a supply of 160mm cranks?

Slight highjack, I have a set of square taper 170mm Specialized cranks with UN54 bb (less than 100 miles) and Middleburn 38T 'ring. £50 posted
