i've seen and been involved in several threads relating to the issue of sealing boots ( both five tens and otherwise ) against water entry from above and suddenly today I thought well why not just try them with my normal neoprene overshoes . Don't know why I haven't done this before because basically it works fine protecting the shoe and giving a pretty good seal from above . this will be even better when i wear the bib longs over the top and should pretty much stop all water except that caused by submersion.
anyway ..may not be a new idea but thought I'd share .
ps no strap underneath is required with my BBB ultraflex overshoes which are heavy duty and I just tucked it under the main body.

Within 5 mins of riding the toe will peel up and you'll realise why this will never catch on

I have also used this overshoe on top of the shimano spd walking boot many times last winter without a single issue regarding it coming off . this is probably as the ultraflex has a very strong and thick rubber band all the way round the bottom which stretches and grips well.

Looks like it could work ok.
Repost with an update when you have got a few more miles under your belt if that's ok.

Looks great, it's always peeved me that the so called market leader in MTB shoes does not at leas t attampt to make them waterproof, they need gore tex or a gore tex clone. Even the insole is bleedin cardboard..
