When you are riding, push harder on the pedals.
Simple. Effective.

Get dumped... channel the aggression when on a climb.

Step 1. Watch some Pantani videos.
Step 2. Go out and try to emulate him.
Step 3. Fail miserably and vow to try harder.
Step 4. ???
Step 5. Profit!!! Or train harder and get better at it.

There, five, and don't take this as me saying you're fat, but look at pics of the worlds great climbers! Compared to those twigs even supermodels look obese!

Oh come on, should i not be doing fartlek or something, a little and often or a long intense ride followed by a more moderate ride, it's all so confusing, whats the best regime, a summer of squelch really has taken it's toll on my psyche. Inspiration please you riding gods.

edit thanks for those ๐Ÿ˜€

Get fitter
Road riding or lots of nine tech hills to improve stamina
Get better
Sorting out the tech aspect means you can channel the effort and get past things.

Repeat 1 and 2
More technique means less energy. More stamina means easier to apply the technique and have the 10s grunt near the top.

Ride up hills at a steady rate.
Ride up bigger hills.
Increase the rate.
Look awesome.

Find a hill.
Keep it in the big ring.
Stand up.
Keep pedalling till you cant pedal anymore.
Then do it again.

I'm not a climbing legend though. A mate is pretty good and he does this. I try and copy but it hurts my knees after a while.

Or get reborn with the right genes.

Loose weight?
Surely it would be better if he were to lose weight?

No way!

If you're going to be pedantic, at least be funny with it.

Some of the above
Ride big hills or shortnsteep ones several times
Learn to spin not popular but see lance Armstrong in the tours
Fartlek on hills mixed withbsteady climbs
Miles and miles of training
Add in
Spinning classes or turbo work
Core strengthening
Weights to strengthen and increase power not just the legs. But shoulders and arms.....aim is not to look like arnies but increase power and strength
Alternative cardiovascular personally rowing and short sprints......increase cardiovascular capacity and change routine
Stretch

Oh after all that depends on how big you are I am told a 6ft 200lb rider will not be as effective as a 5ft5 130lb rider.....so choose your personal goals

Enjoy

find a decent hill that takes you longer than 10 minutes to ride up. ride up it for 10 minutes, turn around and roll at medium pace back to where you started. repeat. for a couple of hours.

do that two or three times a week.

climbing godliness awaits.

If you weigh over 90kgs you will never be good in the hills.

If you are above 15% body fat you will never be good in the hills.

The first one you might never be able to change short of cutting an arm off.

The second one costs nothing to change and will by far have he biggest effect.

If you are under 15% b/f then you just need to get out and ride some hills, try and pick a gear you can stay in the saddle all the way then over time you can use 1 gear more and go up quicker.

Focus on steep road hills not off road where technique, tyres and power are all important factors in getting up a climb fast.

Move to somewhere hilly.

Anywhere near the Pennines should do.
The only flat things round here are the caps.
