I've seen the hope video, and it looks a fairly easy job other than I don't have the tool to whack the converters in place? Is there an alternative method of getting it fitted?

Also do you keep the same amount of spacers you currently use? And finally What torque is the tightening bolt for the cranks?

**** it in with sockets or logs. I just tighten until there's no play & there's no gaps. 1 spacer between btw

I went from a std gxp bb with no spacers to fitting a hope ss bb and used one spacer - XO cranks btw

Suppose you'll have to play around : /

Stick the adapters in the freezer for a couple of hours and they pretty much push in by hand...

I'm running a standard hope bb with two drive side spacers at the mo, why will the adaptors make that different then? Sure I can bang them in somehow

why will the adaptors make that different then

because GXP cranks are different to HT2 cranks

Oh right so it will affect the amount of spacers I need then, fair enough!

Cheers guys

GXP chainset location is controlled by the axle clamping the non-drive bearing, the axle floats in the drive side bearing with about 5mm clearance, so an extra spacer's unlikely to make any difference.

Fives have a 73mm shell, so should only have one spacer anyway, i'd probably stick to that so there's more thread engaged in the frame.

With the gxp on my five I had no spacers, with hollowtech 2 two spacers.

Worth noting the gxp worked fine like that though it was more of a guess than actual knowledge

in the end i got my lbs to fit the gxp converters (as i was having something else done anyways)

only thing ive noticed is NON driveside where the adaptors go it nows just sits directly next to the bearing? it seems like the black outer dust seal cap has been removed from the hope BB and just looks like a gap is there, drive side outer black seal is still on etc

all rotates really smoothly and lbs are ace with very good trusted mechanics, just didnt want to ask them a numpty question, all tight and no movement also

seems like the maning BB bearing is now exposed?

by hand dare i say it i think they actually spin nicer and more smoothly than a HT2 setup for what ever reason

Can you fit these converters to a Shimano HT2 b/b?

That sounds odd - the bearing shouldn't be exposed. The crank sits on the adapter, but dust seal stays as is.

Got a pic?

hmmm not a pic no sorry 🙁

its basically just missing the black outer dust seal as far as i can see, you cant see the actual bearings balls themselves, but you can see the bearing as a whole, looks like they've not put the outer seal back on, is it gonna cause a massive issue do we think?

Sounds like the NDS bearing wasn't pressed fully home (or got pushed out when they put the inner adapter in) which makes it hard to get the black outer dust seal to push in far enough for the adapter not to pinch it, locking the whole bearing up (I had this problem).

Should definitely be there - take it back and get them to redo it..

Does the crank not sit flush in gxp? It looks weird like it's not pushed in far enough?

I've literally no idea of gxp cranks so don't know if this is normal or not

Any ideas? Or is that how they should look when fitted? All appears to run smoothly

😯 is that the inside bearing surface of your old bearings still stuck on the crank axle?

Looks like they pulled the axle out with the inner bearing race attached!

The left arm doesn't need to make contact on gxp, it sits up against the axle step. a gap is fine and normal.

Just had email back after sending a pic and assured it's right, he's a legend who fitted it and knows his stuff, he said the only thing that wasn't on it was the outer seal as he never bothers with them

Not sure what you mean the silver bit showing?

Ha you did by posting that pic, that silvery bit is what I can see visually looking at the crank but I didn't see the non drive side crank before fitting so it looked like like a weird part of silver / the adaptor put in wrong lol

Clearly wasn't spot on lbs well done 🙂
