Just taken delivery of my Kinesis Racelight 4s and looks a bit tricky to fit the crown race on the carbon tapered steerer though I've fitted mtb ones on straight steerers before easily enough. I'm thinking of taking it to my LBS but thinking about cutting a split into the crown race like some others. Seems OK to me as the bearings are in a sealed race. Any suggestions?

I cut a split in all my crown races. Never have a problem in many moons.
Just try and make a nice clean cut and tidy up the edges a bit with a little file.
FSA have split races anyway normally so whilst in theory there is now a tiny space to crud/water to get in, a bit of grease in there usually would resolve that anyway.
